When I took my mother to the United States, I never imagined that her happiest days would actually be her last ones and the journey would end the way it did. During our return flight from Chicago to London, she suddenly developed acute cardiac failure, forcing the aircraft to make an emergency landing in Boston. Although she was initially stabilized, she suffered a cardiac arrest during an angiogram and, tragically, passed away. What followed was one of the most difficult and overwhelming periods of our lives. Amid our grief and shock, we were informed that it could take 7 to 10 days, or even longer, to repatriate her mortal remains to India. At a time when we felt completely lost and uncertain, a friend connected us with Sreeni who volunteers for Team Aid. Soon afterward, Mr Manvendar Singh from the Embassy put us in touch with Mr. Mohan, who personally reached out to explain how Team Aid could support us. We were added to a coordination group by Dr Naveen Mathew, guided through every step of the documentation process, and connected with Mr. David from Casper Funeral Home. From that moment onward, everything was handled with remarkable compassion, professionalism, and urgency. My mother was transferred from the hospital the very next day, and being able to see her peaceful face brought us immense comfort during an otherwise heartbreaking time. Within another day, all the necessary documentation had been completed, enabling us to bring her home on the very next available flight. In the midst of this tragedy, we truly felt the hand of God guiding us through the kindness and dedication of the people who came to our aid. Because of their extraordinary efforts, we were able to bring our mother home and lay her to rest beside our father, fulfilling a wish that meant so much to our family. We offer our deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to everyone at Team Aid, as well as all those who supported us through this journey. At a time of unimaginable loss, confusion, and emotional pain, you stood beside us with empathy, kindness, and exceptional efficiency. You did far more than help us bring our mother home; you restored our faith in humanity and reminded us that there are still people whose selfless actions make the world a better and more compassionate place. With our deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks. — Dr. Christine Nirmala Maria

I want to take a moment to express my deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped us bring my brother Manianna back home to India. TeamAid was not just an organization that helped us bring Manianna home — they became a part of our healing process. Throughout one of the most painful and difficult journeys our family has ever experienced, Mohan and Lalitha akka were always there for us. Every time I had a question or a doubt, they patiently explained everything with a smile, kindness, and genuine care. Even when I was overwhelmed, emotional, harsh, or asked questions that may have sounded silly, they never lost their patience. They remained calm, compassionate, and understanding every single time. Mohan and Lalitha akka, I honestly don’t know how we would have gone through this journey without you. Your support made an incredibly painful process a little easier to bear. You didn’t just guide us through the practical details — you gave us comfort when we desperately needed it. For that, I will always be grateful. 🙏❤️ My heartfelt thanks also goes to all the TeamAid volunteers behind the scenes who played a part in Manianna’s journey home. Many people may not know all of your names or everything you did, but please know that your efforts mattered deeply to our family. Every phone call, every coordination, and every small act of help contributed to bringing Manianna back to us. A very special thank you to Grimmson Chapel for taking such wonderful care of Manianna. Thank you for keeping him safe, treating him with dignity and respect, and dressing him so beautifully. When we finally saw him, he looked peaceful, almost as though he was simply resting. That image will stay with us forever, and we are deeply grateful for the care and compassion you showed him. 🙏 I would also like to sincerely thank AKumar Funeral Services for your quick response and for being there when our family needed assistance. During such a difficult and emotional time, having people respond quickly and professionally meant so much to us. To Mohan, Lalitha akka, every TeamAid volunteer, Grimmson Chapel, AKumar Funeral Services, my friends, and my family — thank you from the deepest part of my heart. You all played a part not only in bringing Manianna home, but also in helping our family begin to heal. We may never be able to fully repay your kindness, but we will carry your love and support in our hearts forever. God bless each and every one of you. ❤️🙏 — Paramaguru Muthusamy

To the entire Team Aid family, We honestly don’t know how to put our gratitude into words. Losing our Dad has been one of the most painful things our family has ever gone through. When he passed away in San Francisco, apart from the unbearable grief, there was also this fear and helplessness about how we were going to bring him back home to India. You took care of everything and brought our Dad back to India in such a short time. We know there must have been so many things to coordinate and so many formalities involved, but for us, all we could see was that somehow, our Dad was coming home. And the most precious thing you gave us was the chance to see our Dad one last time. To be able to see him, be with him, say goodbye to him and perform his last rites here, surrounded by his family and the people who loved him that means more to us than we can ever explain. In those difficult days, we were completely lost and emotionally broken. We didn’t know what to do or where to begin. But you handled everything so quickly and stood by us through the process. You made an incredibly painful situation a little easier for our family. What you did for us was not just bringing mortal remains from one country to another. You brought our Dad back home to us. You gave us one last opportunity to be with him, and that is something we will carry in our hearts forever. We will never forget the kindness, understanding and support you showed us during the most difficult time of our lives. A huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to every single person at Team Aid who was involved in bringing our Dad home. ❤️ We are truly grateful for everything you did, especially for how quickly you made it happen when we needed it the most. Thank you for helping us bring Dad home. Thank you for giving us the chance to see him one last time. And thank you for being there for our family when we needed it the most. We will always remember this kindness. 🙏❤️ — Bagyashree CM – Bagyashree and Laxmi sree

My name is Bungatavula Haneesh, and I lost my brother, Dileep Kumar Bungatavula, in a fatal car accident in Kent, Ohio. This was an extremely devastating and difficult time for our entire family. As soon as my relatives in USA reached out to Mohan Garu, he immediately took initiative and proactively coordinated everything. He guided us through the entire process and made what could have been an extremely difficult and overwhelming situation much more manageable for our family. Mohan Garu stayed in constant communication with us and proactively coordinated with the Consulate General of India, New York, and other parties involved in the process. He helped us with the necessary documentation, formalities, and arrangements for bringing my brother back to India. Their support continued even after his arrival in India, including assistance at the airport and throughout the arrangements to bring him safely to our hometown. During a time when our family was completely shattered and struggling to understand what to do next, Mohan Garu stood by us, guided us at every step, and made sure we were not left alone to handle everything by ourselves. His compassion, responsiveness, and willingness to help meant more to our family than I can express in words. I sincerely and wholeheartedly thank Mohan Garu and the entire TeamAid team for their incredible support, kindness, and assistance during one of the most difficult times in our lives. We will always be grateful for everything they did for our family. — Haneesh Bungatavula

A visiting relative suddenly got a stroke and passed away while on a trip to Seattle. We were completely lost between grief and the logistics needed to perform the lost rites. I contacted Team Aid and Mohan ji guided us through the process, patiently answering our questions (which was very late night for him). He was extremely responsive (within minutes) connecting us to the right people to make all the arrangements. Without his help, we would not have been able to send off the departed soul with the traditions in our culture. We are all very grateful to Team Aid and all the volunteers for helping us during this difficult time. God bless you all. — Asuthosh Gupta
