That same evening, while walking together through Central Park, she suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and passed away at the hospital, leaving her daughter devastated and alone in a foreign land. TEAM Aid stepped in with unwavering compassion, managing every detail of repatriating her remains to Lucknow, India, in full accordance with her Islamic faith and traditions. Beyond logistics, TEAM Aid stood beside the grieving daughter, offering emotional support through an unimaginable loss — a true reflection of TEAM Aid’s heartfelt mission.

A 40 Year old woman had come to the United States full of promise, pursuing her second master’s degree in engineering. But mental illness does not discriminate. During her time here, she became disoriented and slipped into homelessness. In that vulnerable state, she was assaulted and robbed — her bag stolen, along with her identification and passport. Alone in a foreign country, without documents, without family, and without a way home. She was recovering at a hospital and seeking a safe return home. TEAM Aid is coordinating with the Indian Consulate, Chicago.

A respectful Hindu funeral service was organized, honoring the individual’s traditions and ensuring a dignified farewell during this difficult time.
