TEAM Aid, a volunteer-based organization providing assistance to individuals in crisis situations, recently hosted a volunteer meeting in New Jersey.
The meeting was attended by Consul General of India in New York, Binaya Pradhan and over 75 volunteers from seven different US states. The Consul General lauded founder Mohan Nannapaneni and his team for their important service to the community.
Speaking to New India Abroad, Nannapaneni said the organization helps families in India cope with the sudden death of family members in the United States. TEAM Aid volunteers help to repatriate the remains of the deceased individuals and also arrange traditional religious cremation and funerals abroad.
“We help them as their extended family,” Nannapaneni said. “The concept of the meeting is to motivate our volunteers and let the community leaders know what TEAM Aid does,” he added.
“We do not pity the wounded; we become the wounded,” the organization’s website reads. Nannapaneni reiterated it by stating that over 3000 TEAM Aid volunteers spread across United States and Canada not only assist families in repatriation efforts but also actively make efforts to preserve their dignity during those difficult and sensitive times.
